Goals of the internship program

 

Our company Salience Consulting is a boutique consultancy providing consulting and professional services for telecom operators in the Middle East and Asia. At our core we are a group of technical and management consultants who have been delivering telecoms projects in the Middle East for the past 10 years. Our regional knowledge and client expertise positions us at the forefront of telecommunications in the Middle East. Our culture is based around having the right people with the right skills and the right attitude.

Salience’s purpose of the internship program is to help the graduates acquire work experience by working closely with professionals in the industry and strengthen their resumes. Our vision is to transform countries and communities through telecom.

1. What does Salience hope to get out of the internship program?
   • An inexpensive recruiting tool and an opportunity to train Salience’s future employees
   • The opportunity to evaluate prospective employees while they are working for Salience to see if he or she is a good fit
   • Completion of special projects which would otherwise go undone
   • Interns bring fresh perspective and ideas from the classroom to the workplace and therefore stimulate creative problem solving
   • Interns can be another source for the recruitment of diverse employees into our workforce
   • An internship program can supply an easily accessible source of highly motivated pre-professionals
   • Interns provide an opportunity for mid-level staff to manage
   • Good exposure within the community as the company is giving back by preparing the future workforce

 

1. What will the interns get out of the program?
   • Students gain a realistic perspective of the working world and realistic job preview so they can decide on their career choice
   • A great way to transition from the classroom to the workplace
   • Obtain marketable work experience which will be very helpful and attractive to potential employers
   • Build relationship and make valuable business contacts
   • Learn to work with employees at different management levels

 

1. What will the interns learn during the internship period?
   • New and improved skills – time management, communication and presentation skills, report writing, teamwork, problem-solving, customer service and analytical skills
   • Sense of professionalism – learn how to navigate the working world through real life experience and understand the idea of an appropriate way to behave as a professional
   • More Confidence in your career direction – the internship is an opportunity to test out a career field of interest and have a clearer idea of whether or not the intern really want to pursue the occupation
   • Completed projects, presentations, etc – Evidence of their accomplished work like the presentation they prepared or presented, reports they wrote, projects, designs or campaigns they worked on or created etc
   • Employed or recommended – if the intern does a superb job and made a favorable impression amongst the manager and colleagues, they could be employed full-time with Salience (if there is an opening) or be provided with a recommendation letter for a potential employer
