About the Client

 

Our client-partner is an award-winning UK accounting firm, and an accredited UK VISA sponsorship holder, looking for a Practice Manager. This will be a modern Accountant, who understands the digitally disrupted and every changing accountancy industry.

 

Our client-partner is seeking a switch on candidate, who can hit the ground running and deliver to the business its next chapter of growth.

 

Your Opportunity

 

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Accounting professional who can manage and direct a small, but growing team. The successful candidate will have a diverse skill set across the 4 main functions of a business. You are a super communicator and can successfully build rapport, relating to all kinds of people all over the world! 

 

The Practice Manager is the first point of contact for all practice operational matters and will often become a trusted adviser on a broad range of business problems. Day to day tasks include:

 

  • Oversight of accounting work

 

  • The client portfolio will include a full spectrum of services including management accounting & bookkeeping, year-end accounting, VAT, Payroll and Tax Advisory work
  •  The PM will have 3-4 technical accounting teams working with them. The PM will liaise with the manager (Compliance Manager) of these teams and act as an internal client ensuring the clients’ needs are represented and a quality product always delivered 
  • They will also regularly be engaged in rolling out tax work for portfolio clients. This could include assisting with R&D tax credits, corporate structuring or tax investigation work

 

  • Business Development

 

  • Work closely with the sales and marketing team to develop the practice
  • Building a deep understanding of the client and their ambitions and strategies for the business 
  • Identifying opportunities to assist the client in moving their business forward. This will include pulling in services outside of the accounting service line (such as Financial Services, Wills and Estates, Corporate Finance and Tax). 
  • Coordinate internally to bring together the people and resources to introduce and deliver these new services to the client.
  • Monitoring engagement scope and ensuring that fees are raised where required to adapt to scope change.
  • Fully onboard new clients in the first 90 days to showcase added value services. 

 

  • Provide Added Value Services

 

  • Provide advice and support to business owners to help them succeed
  • Become a trusted adviser on a broad range of business problems.
  • Lead meetings to present management accounts and provide input on decisions
  • Provide tax planning advice to clients
  • Provide financial coaching and business advisory services to clients

 

  • Manage and develop a team

 

  • Provide coaching and mentoring support to staff
  • Help staff develop their career within the firm and have a clear development plan
  • Provide ad hoc technical support to staff where required
  • Regular team meetings and reviewing KPIs and OKRs
  • Oversee HR function including hiring, onboarding, off boarding and ad-hoc disciplinary matters.

 

Candidate Profile and Experience

 

  • You will be an experienced (QBE) or qualified accountant (ACCA, AAT, CPA, CPAA, ICAEW, ATT or CTA. It is also very important that you have the right attitude and are a smart worker who clients and colleagues will like and respect.
  • You will have a wide range of experience across customer-facing roles
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing an accountancy practice 
  • Relates comfortably with diverse groups of people
  • Strong communication skills, very organised, team player but self-motivated, and can find creative way to resolve issues with available resources.
  • Personally, we are looking for someone who shows initiative, has integrity and is passionate about meeting agreed targets and getting results.
