Allocate Software is a leading international provider of workforce management software. Our application suite helps thousands of hospitals and healthcare organisations manage and optimise teams of nurses and doctors to improve patient care. We are a global company with 600 employees and offices in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, USA and Australia.

We are a fast growing technology company and are establishing a new software development centre in Skopje.

Producing software products to a high level of quality is crucial to our success as a company, particularly as our products are used by healthcare organisations. The company has decided to invest significantly in an exciting new Continuous Delivery initiative to improve quality and speed to market of our products.

 

Allocate and R&D Summary:

 

Allocate Software has been designing innovative products to optimise complex organisations since 1991. We have taken expertise from several industries and applied this to the specific issues and complexity of healthcare. Today we focus on delivering software tools to help healthcare institutions manage their staff safely and efficiently so that they can deliver exceptional care to all their patients. We have customers in 11 countries, with greater than 1 million people deployed using our software in over 800 organisations.

Our R&D function is a global function comprising more than 200 people with development centres across the United Kingdom, Macedonia, Sweden, and Australia. R&D globally represents approx. one third of Allocate’s total headcount and has seen significant investment in recent years. Skopje is one of our primary development centres and a key pillar in our current and future strategy for engineering excellence. It currently houses more than 100 R&D staff members, with continued growth expected in the future.

 

Role Summary:

 

The Product Owner is accountable for the success of their product and the Return on Investment, ensuring that the product vision is met and that development activities are focused on maximizing business value.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Gather business requirements for an assigned development project by establishing open lines of communication with customers where applicable.
  • Validate and prioritise requirements having regard to existing commitments, commercial imperatives and product strategy.
  • Document and communicate the requirements in accordance with approved methodology (including User Stories with Acceptance criteria). Ensure that requirement and design documents are appropriately distributed, reviewed, discussed, modified, and ultimately approved (where appropriate).
  • Deliver a product design that fulfils these requirements in a generic way, which is compatible with demands of other stakeholders, both current and future.
  • Represent stakeholders within development team, ensuring that developments meet the business requirement and are fit for purpose.
  • Attend all Scrum meetings (Sprint Planning, Product Backlog Grooming, Sprint Review, Retrospectives).
  • Own the product backlog within a release, prioritise and plan the sprints within the release.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the product, the people who use it, how they use it and the benefits they realise from using it.
  • Work closely with front line support staff, services and partners, and customers as required, in order to understand and help resolve functional issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assist the development team as necessary in terms of testing fault fixes, customer patches, where there is a high level of complexity.
  • Identify and report areas for improvement in both software, processes and documentation.
  • Where needed, assist in the testing of new versions of software.

 

Skills Required:

 

  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
  • Experience in working in a software development team
  • Good understanding of Agile development methodologies, especially SCRUM
  • Strong relationship building skills, including the ability to relate constructively to people at all levels of the organization
  • Strong listening, written and Oral communication skills
  • The desire to be part of, and contribute to, a team environment
  • A proven ability to plan, undertake and finish activities to achieve high quality results
  • Ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical people
  • Exceptionally self-motivated
  • Experience working with customers to illicit feedback/requirements
  • Technical experience would be a distinct advantage
  • Experience of the Healthcare Industry would be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent attention to detail
