Role Summary:

Junior DevOps engineer role is a hands-on entry level technical DevOps role.  This role involves people to assist DevOps and Senior DevOps Engineers with day to day tasks such as creating/maintaining pipelines and administering/supporting R&D tool sets like Jenkins, Nexus, Octopus Deploy, etc.  Junior DevOps engineer will have opportunities to work very closely with DevOps and Senior DevOps engineers to learn and gain valuable experience in DevOps.

Responsibilities:

• Coordination with different teams within R&D and organisation through all phases of a software development life cycle.

• Assist DevOps and Senior DevOps engineers in development and maintenance of pipelines and creation of new pipelines for teams.

• Administer and support tooling used within R&D, e.g.: GoCD, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy, Git, Nexus, etc.

Skills/Qualifications/Experience Required:

Essential:

• Degree in Computer Science or related field.

• Understanding and basic knowledge of CI/CD toolsets e.g.: Jenkins.

• Understanding and knowledge of scripting languages, e.g.: PowerShell, Bash, etc.

• Understanding of version Control systems, e.g.: Git.

• Understanding of ALM tools, e.g.: VSTS, JIRA.

• Motivated, self-organised, thorough, quality oriented and proactive.

• Good communication skills, able to coordinate and work with multiple teams at the same time.

Preferred:

• Experience of scripting language(s), preferably PowerShell.

  Preferred:

• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Containers (Docker).
• Vagrant, Packer, Vault.
• Nginx
• Administration and setup of Windows Server 2008R2 – latest.
• Basic setup and administration of MS SQL Server 2008R2 – latest, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
• Configuration management tools e.g.: Chef, Puppet, Ansible
